The 19-year-old Carlos Alcaras won the Spanish derby Thursday with his legendary compatriot Rafael Nadal, who returned from a rib injury 6-2, 1-6, 6-3, to reach on dirt ground the semi-finals of the Madrid tournament, one of the Masters tournaments, a thousand points in tennis and set a date with Serbian Novak Djokovic, ranked number one in the world.
Alcaras, ranked ninth in the world, who turned 19 on Thursday, avenged following two losses to Nadal, 35, who is currently fourth in the world and holder of 21 major championships, to continue his wonderful career at the beginning of this season.
The Serbian Novak Djokovic, ranked first in the world, reached the semi-finals with an easy victory over Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz, the 14th, 6-3 6-4.
