On Friday, March 25, the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) held an extraordinary summit on the situation in Mali, Guinea Conakry and Burkina Faso.

Following the visit of mediator Goodluck Jonathan to Mali where the Malian authorities proposed an extension of 24 additional months against 12 to 16 months for ECOWAS, the announcement of this summit was seen as a hope for the lifting of the embargo which has weighed on our country for nearly three months. For the occasion, the sub-regional organization expressly invited the Head of State, Colonel Assimi Goïta to take part in the work. This infrequent invitation to a putschist president gave a glimpse of hope that the latter would have the opportunity to express himself and give valid reasons for lifting the embargo.
