the alarm cry of a teenager with cystic fibrosis

Maxime, 15, indicates that of the ten medicines he must take daily, four are out of supply.

For many months, the supply of certain drugs has been under strain. A situation that directly affects Maxime, 15 years old.

Suffering from cystic fibrosis, his survival depends on respecting a heavy treatment, consisting of ten drugs. But four of these molecules are out of stock, including growth hormones. In February, he appealed directly to the Minister of Health, François Braun, by means of a letter.

“If I no longer have this medicine, I die”

At the microphone of BFMTVhis mother says about precisely these hormones: “My pharmacy managed to get a box by calling the Pfizer laboratory directly”.

But last month, the pharmacy was unable to recover a single box, and Maxime’s mother had to go “45 kilometers” to find one. Max then says: “A medicine that I take morning and evening. If I no longer have this medicine, I die. A college life can turn into horror”.

A letter to the Minister of Health

“Mr. Minister of Health, my name is Maxime, I live in Moyon, in the Manche department”, begins the missive addressed to François Braun. The latter assured, in his response, that the National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM) was taking care of his file.

Only after a month and a half, Maxime and his parents are still distraught. His father laments:

I find it incorrect that in France, at present, we can say to a person or a child, ‘I’m sorry, but we don’t have a solution to bring you because there is no of drugs’.
