Some distinctive signs appear on the skin and you should be able to know them correctly, and moles are among the most famous and common of these signs.

Learn about the characteristics of moles and other signs that appear on your skin, so you know what to do when you notice them.

Here are some tips to help you interpret the messages your body sends, according to the Bright Side website.

What are moles and why do they appear?

Moles are growths in the skin that vary in color, ranging from a person’s natural skin color to different shades, and they may appear anywhere on the skin, either individually or in groups.

Moles form when pigment-producing cells in the skin, known as melanocytes, grow in clumps rather than scattered over the surface.

Most moles appear on the parts of the body that are most exposed to the sun, so it is likely that you will have more moles the more time you spend in the sun.

Most moles appear during childhood until the age of 20, and when you reach adulthood, it is common to have between 10 and 40 moles on your body.

In some cases, moles are hairy and may change slowly over the years, becoming more lumpy and lighter in color, but in other cases you won’t notice any change at all.

After exposure to sunlight, moles become darker. It may also happen during puberty or pregnancy due to hormonal changes.

When should you take a closer look at it?

Most moles are benign, but in some cases you may need to take a closer look to make sure they aren’t serious.

You should examine the parts of your body that have moles using a mirror, and note that moles appear in places that are regularly exposed to the sun (such as the face, hands, legs, arms, chest, and back). You can also ask for help from one of your friends.

You should go to a dermatologist if you notice any of the following signs:

A mole that looks different from the rest of the moles on your body.

The appearance of a mole after the age of thirty.

Itching or bleeding in the mole.

Color inconsistency.

Changing its shape or the difference in one of its sides from the rest in an irregular way.

Its diameter is larger than a pencil eraser.

How do you recognize papilloma?

Papillomas are light in color or are light brown bumps that hang from the skin.

It consists of soft collagen fibers and channels embedded in the thicker areas of the skin.

They can usually appear on the neck, eyelids, and other places that are exposed to friction, such as the breasts, thighs or armpits.

What makes these formations different from moles is their nature. Moles can sometimes turn into malignant cells, while papillomas are usually always benign.

And what about pimples?

Another type of condition, unlike moles, is caused by relatively common viruses called papillomaviruses and is transmitted by direct contact or by sharing items such as towels and sheets. Common pimples are usually harmless and go away on their own over time.

They usually appear on the fingers or hands, and are rough, often with small black dots that are small blood vessels of clotted blood. Other blisters may appear on the bottom of the feet that lead to discomfort while walking.

How do you prevent it from appearing?

You can prevent pimples from appearing or spreading to other parts of the body by following these recommendations:

Wash your hands regularly, especially if you’ve touched someone with blisters.

Cover the blisters with a bandage and avoid touching them.

Maintaining clean hands and feet.

Wear light slippers in public bathrooms or changing rooms.
