The Argentines Francisco Cerúndolo and Diego Schwartzman will participate this week in the traditional ATP 500 tennis tournament at Queen’s, which serves as a prelude to Wimbledon and will be held on a grass surface.
The contest, which is played at The Queen’s Club, located in a select neighborhood of London, will award prizes of 2,345,130 euros.
Cerúndolo from Buenos Aires (20th in the ATP world ranking and eighth favorite) will debut in the first round -not before Tuesday- with an adversary that emerged from the rankings.
‘Little’ Schwartzman, also a native of Buenos Aires (106 in the international ranking), has not yet met his first rival, who will also start from qualifying.
The Scotsman Andy Murray (44), who is the top winner of the championship with five titles (2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016), will face a difficult debut against the Australian Alex de Minaur (18th and seventh seed), who leads him 3-0 on record against each other.
The young Spanish Carlos Alcaraz (2) is the favorite and will debut against a tennis player who emerged from the classification; while the Italian Matteo Berrettini (21), champion in the 2021 and 2022 editions, will face the Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori (42) in the first round.
