The Barcelona-Manchester United match records the largest crowd in the history of the European League

Barcelona struggled to a 2-2 draw with United in Thursday’s action-packed first leg, which saw them smash the previous record attendance of 80,465 fans who watched Tottenham Hotspur when they hosted Gent at Wembley Stadium in February 2017.

Barcelona is also the current record holder for crowd attendance in the Champions League, since 115,500 people attended the first leg of the quarter-final match against Paris Saint-Germain in the 1994-1995 season.

In the 2021-2022 season, a record 91,648 fans attended a women’s football match when Barcelona beat Wolfsburg 5-1 in the Champions League semi-finals, a record that still stands for any women’s football match, at the level of Clubs or teams.
