The Belarusian opposition turns to the Lithuanians: they are trying to oppose us

Understand instantly

  • Former English teacher S. Cichanouskaja found refuge in Lithuania in 2020 after the regime threatened her with repression for daring to challenge A. Lukashenko in the presidential elections
  • Lukashenko’s Kremlin-loyal regime last year sentenced her to 15 years in prison in absentia for treason and “conspiracy to seize power.”
  • Recently, there has been more and more discussion in Lithuania about the growing immigration of Belarusians to Lithuania

On Wednesday, S. Cichanouskaja’s office started managing the page in Lithuanian. In the first post, the opponents of Aliaksander Lukashenka’s regime thanked the Lithuanians for their support and urged them not to engage in division:

“Dear Lithuanians!

in 2020 Belarusians told the dictator Lukashenka: “Go away!”, Russia helped the dictator to survive, and Belarusians suffered Stalinist repressions. Every day the servants of the regime break into the houses of 20-30 Belarusians and throw 10-20 people behind bars. Belarusians are robbed of their property, tortured and killed.

Unfortunately, not everyone outside of Belarus knows that Belarusians and the Lukashenko regime are not the same. Many believe that Belarusians have stopped fighting and resigned themselves to the dictatorship. But it is not! This is evidenced by the ongoing repression against Belarusians. Belarusians continue to resist both in Belarus and abroad. Many of them are fighting in Ukraine against Russian aggression.

Belarusians, like Ukrainians, are fighting against the expansion of the “Russian world”, against the Russian Empire, which has now decided to avenge its defeats in the 20th century. at the end The empire does not hide that Belarus and Ukraine are not its last targets. It also threatens other European countries. This makes our struggle a common struggle for freedom, independence and democracy.

In this struggle, Belarusians are in dire need of support and solidarity.

Thank you for your support since 2020. Belarusians will never forget your hospitality and friendliness.

Solidarity and help are our weapons in the common fight. That is why the enemies make efforts to oppose us, to cause discord, to drive a wedge between us. They are trying to take away our freedom. We can counter this with our friendship and a united stand against their imperial ambitions.

Our activities are focused on the future. We want our country to stop being a nuisance and a threat to its neighbors. We want to live peacefully and freely in our country, visit our neighbors, get to know their culture, and develop our business. To achieve this, we need to get to know each other better. Our ignorance is the strength of our enemies. Knowledge and communication are our strength!”.
