The Belgian GP on the 2023 calendar version B

If nothing is final yet, Liberty Media is moving forward on the calendars for F1 2023. As we had already announced, two calendars are circulating. We had the opportunity to speak with a source having both versions in front of him. On the first of 24 races, it is no longer a question of Belgium, but of two new events in Las Vegas and Kyalami in South Africa, but also the return of China and Qatar.

On version B, which still features South Africa, however very unlikely from next year, China, still uncertain due to the pandemic (the organizers have asked to be placed at the end of the season to increase their chances) is replaced by Belgium. As already announced, the usual Francorchamps date at the end of August will be taken by Zandvoort, while the only date for our race would therefore not be in July but rather in September as the last European GP, logically September 10.

Strangely Kyalami appears in April on both calendars, unlike France on neither. In the event of cancellation (if the work could not be carried out in time), he would not be replaced and the season would only have 23 appointments.

We do not know what “deadline” would have been set for the Chinese to decide whether F1 can return to Shanghai in 2023 or not.

We hope that Spa can seize this chance and prove this year that they still deserve their place in the championship. And not just because it’s the “most beautiful circuit in the world” or a favorite of “fans and drivers”.
