The peninsula of Giens, in the Var, summer and winter alike, is a garden of Eden where life is good, feet in the Mediterranean with breathtaking panoramas. Nothing better to discover all this than to set off on the magnificent hiking trails, and there are many of them.

Shunned by the tourists a once summer is over, French Riviera yet keeps this idyllic face all winter. There is a calm sea, overlooked all year round by a thick maquis. A treasure, watched over by a group of hikers, who set off that morning to attack the Giens peninsula (Where). The opportunity to take full eyes. “There is no better retirement than living there”, says a hiker.

Members of a club in the Toulon suburbs, there are around thirty young retirees walking the coastal path. Fellow walkers have become friends. In the heart of the forest Janas (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur), some do a more invigorating workout before starting two hours of Nordic walking. The principle : a sporty hike where all the muscles work, thanks to the two sticks that help the walkers to propel themselves. Ultimate reward for these walkers: reach the chapel of May and enjoy the incomparable panorama.
