Evolutionsmuseum, Schmiding

The Evolution Museum with over 1000 international exhibits is located on the grounds of Zoo Schmiding. The museum enables a journey through time through the physical and spiritual evolution of mankind and the world, which has a lot to offer for parents and children. The focus is not only on the evolution of the past, but also looking ahead, that of the future and artificial intelligence. On the 2nd floor of the museum there is an exciting environment especially for the little visitors, where they can also do their own research.

Experience Upper Austrian folk culture – workshops

In the last weeks of the holidays, until September 9th, a few times a week, member associations of the Upper Austrian Forum for Folk Culture offer activities that all take place in Linz or the surrounding area. The creativity of the children is mainly promoted in the various workshops: Playing theatre, building Christmas cribs, painting and singing are the content of some of these courses.

Climbing gyms in Linz and the surrounding area

If you want to stay sporty despite the bad weather, the climbing halls in Linz and the surrounding area are the perfect way to do so. You can choose between the Steinbock at the foot of the Frog Mountain in Linz, the “Am Turm” climbing center in Linz-Urfahr or the Linz/Auwiesen climbing hall. In each of these halls, children’s courses are offered in addition to adult courses.

Biology Center, Linz-Dornach

With more than 16 million objects, the Linz Biology Center has the largest natural history collection in Upper Austria and occupies second place in Austria. The center is dedicated to collecting, preserving and researching and imparting knowledge about the world of animals, plants and fungi. There are regular special exhibitions, such as squid or snails, which can be very interesting for both adults and children. The museum is open all week long with free entry.

Voestalpine Stahlwelt

For parents with children from 6 to a maximum of 15 years, a family tour through the steel world of the Voestalpine is an ideal item on the program when the weather is bad. Especially during the rest of the holiday season, Voest offers guided tours several times a week, and a factory tour can also be undertaken. Since only 50 people can take part in a guided tour, it is advisable to reserve the tickets early enough, otherwise no fixed place can be guaranteed.

Ikuna Kids World, Natternbach

In addition to the Ikuna nature adventure park, you can also visit the Ikuna Kids World in Natternbach. In the indoor park, children can let off steam on 1000m² and even visit a 5-D cinema. More fun is guaranteed by a high ropes course and trampolines. While your children are playing in the Kids World, you can have a drink or something to eat in the adjacent Gasthaus Miraculix. You can still keep an eye on the indoor park. Ikuna Kids World is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the school holidays. The same opening times also apply on weekends during the school year.

Lollipark Pasching

There is another indoor amusement park in Pasching. The Lollipark is well suited for children up to the age of 12 to let off steam on the slides, giant trampolines and an electric go-kart track. For the very young visitors there is a small children’s area with mini trampolines.
