Warhammer fans received a major update on June 26, 2026, as the publisher unveiled a wave of new products for The Old World, including a revamped core set, miniature releases, and expanded rulebooks. The announcements, detailed across multiple platforms, mark a significant expansion of the fantasy wargame’s universe and accessibility for new players.
New Miniatures and Rulebook Releases
The centerpiece of the preview is the Warriors of Chaos core set, featuring heavily armored miniatures described as “incredibly imposing” and “good-looking” by GamesRadar+. These include the two-headed Chaos Dragon, a towering miniature that can be assembled as either a Lord or a Sorcerer on the dragon. The set also includes a revised Warhammer: The Old World Rulebook, updated with the latest online FAQ and available separately. This rulebook introduces Battle March, a fast-paced, small-scale gameplay format for 400-750 point armies, ideal for casual players and hobby clubs.

According to Warhammer Community, the new rulebook also includes a Battle March: General’s Companion, which provides muster lists, campaign rules, and six narrative scenarios. Two boxed sets—Warriors of Chaos and Grand Cathay—will allow players to jump directly into Battle March, with miniatures and rules tailored for this format.
Warhammer Academy Launches
A new initiative, Warhammer Academy, was introduced to attract beginners. This platform, launched alongside Warhammer 40K starter sets, offers beginner-friendly resources to learn the hobby. Warhammer Community described it as a “perfect way to start your hobby journey,” though the platform’s exact features remain unspecified beyond its launch date.

Ork Codex and Terrain Sets
Another major announcement was the Ork Codex, marking the first Codex release for the Warhammer 40K universe in 2026. The set includes new miniatures, such as a redesigned Mek (greenskins’ engineer) and a “character-rich” Trukk, described as a “Mad Max meets Wacky Racers” design. GamesRadar+ noted that additional Ork models will follow the global Death Mire campaign.
Terrain sets for Incursion-sized matches were also highlighted. Players can purchase pre-painted “Battlefields” box sets or individual unpainted pieces. These include ruined buildings and sci-fi equipment, with assembly required but no need for painting.
Battle March and Campaign Rules
The Battle March format, introduced in Arcane Journal: The War of Settra’s Fury, is now expanded with new rules and magic items. Warhammer Community emphasized its appeal for “lunchtime games” and league play, offering a balance between strategy and speed. The Arcane Journal: The March of Chaos supplement adds lore, new army combinations, and rules for manipulating the Winds of Magic, including custom Champions of Chaos and Brayherd Chieftains.
