Many people, even standing, on the evening of Friday 29 March in the hall of the Philharmonic Society Odeon of Patras for the presentation of the book “We and our soul” co-authored by the distinguished psychiatrist-psychoanalyst Savvas Savvopoulos and the journalist Costas Giannakidis.
And how could it be otherwise, since Savvas Savvopoulos has many friends and ardent readers in Patras.
The panelists spoke with the best words about the man and scientist, but also for his excellent opinion that simply answers questions that concern all of us: Kostas Giannakidis, journalist, Konstantinos Asimakopoulos – emeritus professor of Psychiatry of Patras. And Angeliki Stefanaki – president of the “Alma Zois N. Achaia” SGCM.
When he took the floor, Savvas Savvopoulos expressed his gratitude to everyone he works with, since as he said “every relationship is equal. No one is above the other. I feel equal to you maybe below, because I see you here and I say “I will be able to answer their questions”.
“I’m happy” he said “to see tonight people I respect a lot, whether politicians or local authorities, just as I’m very moved to see their friends for the first time in my life with whom I walked in the neighborhood of St. Alexis. Some who were in the same company and I say how lucky we are to be here, to meet compatriots with whom, even though I am far away, I connect with them and can communicate with them”.
Speaking about the book, he explained that his goal was to get close to the reader, with his bet being: “To show how the psyche is created. Psychism is not something like the theological soul. It is another story that has its own value. The psyche, for us psychoanalytic psychiatrists, is an organ that performs certain functions and begins to develop from the moment of conception of the fetus, the child.” This was followed by an extremely interesting analysis about the psyche, always in the charming way of Savvas Savvopoulos, and the nice event, which took place in a very warm atmosphere and was interspersed with humor, closed with a discussion with the audience.
