The Managing Director of the Perenco oil group, Armel Simondin, arrived in Port-Gentil on Friday to support the bereaved families following the fire on Wednesday on the oil platform of its Gabonese subsidiary.

Armel Simondin notably organized a gathering of all staff at the company’s headquarters for a minute of silence in memory of the 5 deaths. Wreaths of flowers were also laid in their memory.

Managers from SPIE Oil & Gas Services Gabon directly affected by this tragedy also participated in this meditation.

Immediately after this tribute, the managers of Perenco Oil & Gas Gabon and SPIE Oil & Gas Services Gabon directly affected by this tragedy met each bereaved family. The objective was to express the most sincere condolences of the companies for which their deceased worked.

Perenco Oil & Gas Gabon and SPIE Oil & Gas Services Gabon also assured the families of their full support in their mourning and in the organization of the funeral.

The bosses of these two companies also met with the Governor of the Ogooué Maritime Province to take stock of the situation.

At the end of this meeting, it was indicated that the remains of the victims are currently in the morgue of Tchengue hospital.

No remains were buried yesterday. The images circulating on social networks are real but these burials which had been authorized by a court decision were canceled at the last minute.

A source close to Perenco maintains that the company wants a dignified funeral for its former employees.

On Friday, the results of the tragedy did not change. There are 5 dead, one missing and one injured.
