BEIJING, December 28, 2023 (Xinhua) – Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi unveiled its first new energy vehicle at a launch ceremony in Beijing today (Thursday).
The company said that the SU7 car has entered the production stage and is expected to enter the market in 2024.
The company explained that it invested more than 10 billion yuan (about 1.41 billion US dollars) in the first phase of automotive research and development, which included a team of more than 3,400 engineers.
The technology company added that it has achieved technological breakthroughs in key areas such as electric driving, batteries, smart driving and smart cockpits, and has also established factories for parts such as motors and battery packs.
Li Jun, founder and CEO of the company, said that through hard work over the next period of 15 to 20 years, Xiaomi aims to become one of the five major car manufacturing companies in the world.
Data issued by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers showed that in November this year, the monthly production volume and monthly sales volume of new energy vehicles in China exceeded one million units for the first time, with monthly production volume reaching 1.074 million units and monthly sales reaching 1.026 million units. /end of news/
