Mountain riflemen, brass band music and the Bavarian anthem – the church wedding of Ludwig Prince of Bavaria and his bride Sophie-Alexandra was celebrated with all honors in Munich on Saturday. No wonder, since the groom is a great-great-grandson of the last Bavarian King Ludwig III. Sophie-Alexandra comes from a Dutch-Canadian family.
After the wedding service, the couple moved out of the Theatinerkirche to the sounds of the Bavarian song and to the applause of numerous onlookers, where the Archbishop of Munich and Kardinal Reinhard Marx had administered the Sacrament of Matrimony to both of them. The filigree piece was created by a Ukrainian designer who also incorporated hidden Canadian and Dutch details.
Archbishop Marx greeted the bride on Odeonsplatz – with kisses on the right and left – then the 33-year-old moved to her father’s side Dorus Evekink into the baroque church while the bells of the Theatinerkirche St. Kajetan rang.
