Lawyer Majd Harb, in response to the criticism directed at His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rai regarding his request to remove trays in churches to help the people of the South, said: “This is an old position of the church that represents the teachings of Jesus Christ, especially the saying: Whoever hits you on the right cheek, turn to him with the left one, because these are people.” They attack the church.”

In an interview via “Spot Shot” within the “Point of View” program, Harb said: “They are attacking the Lebanese people over and over again, and the church is still opening its doors to them and offering them assistance, and it will continue to do so even if Kam Ghasheem makes such speeches.”

He continued, “Unfortunately, it is the duty of the church and the monks to say this, and even after the criticism, they will continue to ask for the trays to be packed to provide shelter for these people. Or is it my duty to speak like them, so I will say things as they are.”

He added, “I will tell them, ‘Dhayan al-Manih is with you.’ People’s homes were opened in 2006 to receive you. I remember that the women of Tannourine were making food in large containers to distribute to the schools inhabited by the displaced. Our schools were all open, and the children were playing together. It was an expressive scene.”

He pointed out that “these same people took up arms against those who sheltered them during the war, and they themselves ‘made cauldrons,’ and if the war actually occurred, they would return and seek refuge with us, and the church would open its doors to them again and secure their livelihood, and we would return to supporting them because we are humanitarian, even though they do not deserve that.” “.

He continued, “I tell them, you are destroying the principles upon which we were raised in this country, and you are destroying the coexistence that has turned into a lie because of the actions you are taking, and you are proving day after day that the isolationist discourse has become the right discourse, because living with you has become impossible, so living with these people… “Disgusting has become impossible.”

Harb concluded by saying, “The humanitarian issue requires us to receive and care for the displaced, as we are people of generosity and humanity, but at the same time, none of the Lebanese people can any longer tolerate this superiority with which they treat us, and whoever wants to ascend to Tannourine is not supposed to address us with insults and saying that We do not need it. I hope that war does not happen so that these people do not bite their fingers in regret, because we will have to shelter them, feed them, and pick up trays for them.”
