The Civil Guard will suppress the Roncal mountain rescue group as of April 1

The Civil Guard will abolish as of April 1 the Special Rescue Group for Mountain Intervention (Greim) of snoring for being underused and the one in Pamplona will be maintained. It will also suppress the one in Puigcerdá (Girona), as reflected in a resolution signed by the general director of the Civil Guard, Maria Gamezand published in the last Official Gazette of the institution.

In addition, it will abolish the units of deactivation of explosives (Gedex) of the commands of Álava, Guipúzcoa and Lleida, in order to update their territorial distribution.

Sources from the General Directorate have explained that it is about the reunification of the Gedex of Álava and Guipúzcoa in Vizcaya to focus specialists in the latter province, where “the largest infrastructures in the Basque Country come together, this staff is more efficient and, in addition, they act in the community as a whole”.

Regarding the suppression of the Greim de Roncal, the sources indicate that it had been underused and inoperative for years, and the Pamplona group remains in Navarre.

The same happens with the Puigcerdá mountain group. Vielha remains in Catalonia.

The suppression of the Gedex of Lleida has been done, according to the sources, to reinforce, among others, that of Barcelona.

to those measuress is opposed by the Unified Association of Civil Guards (AUGC), which regrets that, once again, the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaskadoes not have professional associations, he says in a statement.

The AUGC demands “urgent” explanations from the minister about the upcoming “exile” of agents and their families in Catalonia and the Basque Country “with the corresponding closure and dismantling of these specialties” which, in their opinion, has the objective of “wanting to throw out” the institution of these communities.

This association wants to know what the intention and purpose of closing these units is and considers that Marlaska “cannot continue to hide his plans without first defining the professional future of hundreds of civil guards.”

As of April 1, the Civil Guard will abolish the Roncal Mountain Intervention Special Rescue Group (Greim) for being underused and that of Pamplona will remain. It will also suppress that of Puigcerdá (Girona), as reflected in a resolution
