This is three times more than in 2019 during the last World Cup. Businesses are also rejoicing: the company SumUp, which specializes in payment, has noted a sharp increase in the average basket.

“The figures are very important. We can still see that the French are there and that there is really a fever around this World Cup. So given that the increase is really significant in key sectors, in particularly in bars, food trucks and the hospitality sector”, analyzes Gabriel Destremau, public relations manager for the company.

25% increase for food trucks, 16% for bars and 10% for hotels, all over one week. The increase is spectacular. Third indicator of the success of the event: the French team jerseys are being torn off. The Le Coq Sportif brand reports sales four to five times higher than those of a normal year. The equipment manufacturer hopes to sell 250,000 jerseys in the event of the final. And if the Blues win, it could be much more.
