The 28-year-old man is a member of the second terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Jihad which, along with the Hamastook part in the attack launched in southern Israel on October 7.
Manar Mahmoud Mohammed Kassem, as the man’s name was released by Israeli authorities, is seen in the video talking with his hands tied behind his back while sitting in front of an Israeli flag. He is said to have broken into a house in an unnamed kibbutz where he found a woman alone.
“At first, when I entered I didn’t see anyone. Then I entered a room and there I found a woman looking at me terrified.” And she continues: “She told me to help her. I grabbed her and threw her on the couch. The devil possessed me, I laid her down and started to take her clothes off and I did what I did.”
His interrogator, a man from unit 504 of the Israeli army’s (IDF) intelligence service, puts pressure on him, and the man adds: “I slept with her.” The investigator gets angry: “You didn’t sleep with her. Sleep is sleep. What did you do;” The terrorist confesses: “I raped her”.
The man tries to lighten his position by saying that “it didn’t last long. Two minutes, maybe just a minute and a half.”
Continuing his description, he says: “Two men broke the door and entered the house. We heard screams. I don’t know if it was her mother or who might have been shouting. She and I started getting dressed and then the two men came in.”
Qassem claims the two men were wearing the uniforms of the Al-Aqsa Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas. They dragged the mother of the woman he had raped into the same room. The two women “started consoling each other” until “the two Hamas took them with them” as she says.
The 28-year-old, in the continuation of his interrogation, confesses to the murder of several civilians in the kibbutz, as he says he killed them with his automatic weapon as well as by throwing a grenade.
On how he was recruited to take part in the October 7 attack, he says that he was contacted that morning by another terrorist and told where to go.
