The day Zazie refused to sing with Johnny Hallyday

The Taulier sings “Allumer le feu” alone. However, he had offered Zazie to join him for these dates. An offer that the singer declined, she confided in the show As an aside on Canal+. “He had offered to sing for the Stade de France. I told him : ‘Johnny, don’t be ridiculous or you have to be in another room, 3 kilometers away in vocal power’.”

Despite the rocker’s insistence, Zazie did not reconsider her decision. No regrets, she says today. “When I work with people to write a text for them, in this case ‘Lighting the fire’, I don’t necessarily see myself on stage with them.”

She was however present at the Stade de France to see Johnny perform his song. “I had come alone, with the head of an eight and a half year old child. I looked at people saying: ‘I wrote the text!’. I was not sure it had happened so quickly”she said, pointing out that if “Lighting the Fire” is a hit, it’s because Johnny “defended her like never before. It was really a song for him”.
