The hearing only lasted a few minutes, but the image will undoubtedly mark the spirits. Yesterday, still so powerful, François Beya appeared dressed in the electric blue jacket with the traditional yellow edging of prisoners before the High Military Court, which sat for the occasion under white tents within Makala, the large prison of Kinshasa.

A hearing without an observer – the press not having been authorized -, which was essentially used for formalities. The Court proceeded to identify the defendants present, register the lawyers, read the charges and hear the defense objections, some of which were accepted by the Public Prosecutor. François Beya’s lawyers notably requested the provisional release of their client, before the session was adjourned for a week.
