Mayenne culture, the departmental cultural agency
Thanks to its cultural agency Mayenne Culture, the Department carries out a program of actions of departmental interest (artistic education, training, artistic actions, resources and media, instrumental ensemble, Mayenne night festivals, etc.). Project manager of the Department’s cultural policy, the agency promotes cooperation between the people of Mayenne, cultural actors and territories. It can intervene in favor of music, dance, theatre, cinema and the visual arts. To maintain a privileged partnership and be innovative in terms of culture, the Departmental Council constantly adapts its action to changes in cultural subjects.
The Departmental Library of Mayenne
The Mayenne Departmental Library enables sustained cooperation with inter-municipalities by promoting links between residents and the various actors. Since the first support plan for public reading, the Department has had a dual objective of improving services and cultural offerings to the population on the one hand and structuring intermunicipal networks on the other.
Cultural policy 2023
The cultural policy of the Departmental Council, recognized and inspiring at the national level, is defined according to 3 orientations:
- Consolidate support for territories and support for artistic and cultural players;
- Placing culture at the crossroads of the fields of public action
- Cooperate with the inhabitants through their journeys, their commitment, their contribution
