“FRAPP: HUNGER STRIKE OF PRISONERS OF FREEDOM 6 CRIMINAL CAMP PRISON, CURRENT ELECTRICITY CUTOFF
Inmates at the Liberté 6 penal camp prison are currently on a hunger strike to protest against their inhumane conditions of detention, the flagrant health neglect and the acts of torture suffered by some of them.

At the facility, at least five people lost their lives due to medical negligence. The prisoners strongly denounce the irresponsible behavior of the prison major, who only takes action when the health of the inmates reaches a critical state, thus endangering their lives.
Faced with this intolerable situation, the prisoners began a hunger strike, refusing to take their meals until their demands were heard. They demand the immediate presence of the Governor of Dakar to discuss their legitimate concerns.

The National Executive Secretariat (SEN) of FRAPP expresses its total solidarity with the inmates of the Liberté 6 penal camp prison, as well as with all prisoners in the 36 other penitentiary establishments in Senegal. We remind everyone that “Jailman du mala” (a prisoner is not an animal).
We call on the prison administration to stop responding to our press releases with empty statements and to find concrete solutions to the difficulties our fellow prisoners face. The life and dignity of every detainee are at stake, and it is imperative that immediate and effective measures are taken to remedy this unacceptable situation.
