The discovery of a new Corona vaccine targeting this age group

Unanimously, an independent committee in the US Food and Drug Administration agreed to grant the new vaccine made by the American company Moderna to children between 6-17 years.

According to US media, all members of the 22-member Advisory Committee on Vaccines and Related Biological Products voted to give children the Moderna vaccine another light.

The vaccine consists of two doses.

There was a debate among the members of the committee that lasted for a whole day regarding the target age group, and they said that the vaccine is safe and effective for children.

Children under the age of 11 will receive two doses that are half the strength of the two doses given to adults, while those over that age will receive two doses of the same strength.

This step came after data from the US Food and Drug Agency concluded a few days ago that the vaccine is safe for children from the infant category up to 11 years old.

And many experts have raised concerns about offering Corona vaccines to children, because they face limited risks from the virus.

The final approval process for the vaccine is scheduled to be completed in the coming weeks, and approval from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is required before the vaccine can be distributed, but these matters will not constitute an obstacle.

The vaccine is expected to be approved for use at the end of this week, according to the “Washington Post”.

Dr. Paul Offit, one of the participants in the paradise, said that the benefits of taking the vaccine are more than its risks, but he added that the current time is different from the Corona pandemic, according to Sky News Arabia.

The US authorities had previously given the green light to the “Pfizer Bionic” vaccine intended for children over 5 years old, but the response was less than a third.
