The English Football Association punishes Tuchel

The English Football Association has condemned Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel over allegations of inappropriate behavior during his comments about referee Anthony Taylor following his team’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

Tuchel said it was “perhaps better” that Taylor did not manage another match for Chelsea, after the controversial decisions of the refereeing staff during the derby match that took place at Stamford Bridge on August 14.

The English Football Association imposed a fine of 35,000 pounds ($41,200) on Tochel, in addition to preventing him from being in his team’s technical area for one match, after a quarrel broke out between him and the Italian coach Antonio Conte, which necessitated their expulsion during the west London derby.

The FA opened an investigation into Tuchel’s comments, with the German coach accused of inappropriate behavior either through implicit bias, questioning the integrity of the referee or tarnishing the reputation of the game.

Tuchel expressed his disappointment after Spurs’ two goals were calculated, as he said that Richarlison was offside in Hojbjerg’s first goal, and that Chelsea deserved to get a foul due to an interference on Kai Havertz.

Chelsea were angry after Tottenham’s Christian Romero was not punished for pulling the team’s player Cucurella by the hair, as the video technology was invoked, which did not result in Romero receiving a red card and no penalty was imposed on him.

Asked if he thought Taylor should not run a game for Chelsea again, Tuchel replied: “Maybe that would be better.”

“But frankly, we also have video technology to help make the right decisions,” he added.
