The SPÖ is committed to a social and fair EU. At the start of the EU election campaign on Saturday in Vienna, the SP’s top candidate in the EU election, Andreas Schieder, called for a “fair European policy that takes care of the people”. He warned of a shift to the right in Europe, the division of society and attacks on democracy. “The FPÖ is toying with leaving the EU – an Öxit would be an absolute disaster,” warned Schieder.
The Freedom Party presented their campaign on Friday. The slogan “Stop the EU madness” is displayed; EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is pictured, giving her heart to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The FPÖ is undefeated on social media: The FP’s top candidate for the EU elections, Harald Vilimsky, has 274,000 interactions, he primarily uses Facebook.

Neos candidate Helmut Brandstätter communicates primarily via VP top candidate Reinhold Lopatka and Schieder are lagging behind.
The Greens have so far advertised digitally; they rely on name games such as “Count on Schilling”. The ÖVP is still waiting with its campaign. The Neos presented their advertising motifs the previous week. In the first phase, the likenesses of Russian President Vladimir Putin or US presidential candidate Donald Trump will be advertised. In a second wave, the EU will be presented as a counter-model.
In the ORF press hour, Brandstätter outlined his election program. He advocated redefining neutrality. He ruled out joining NATO because it was not known where NATO would stand following the US elections. Brandstätter advocated an EU army. “We have to be able to defend ourselves, but together with others.”
