The Executive Vice-President of the European Commission visits Morocco

Lhe European Vice-President will discuss with Moroccan officials ways to consolidate Moroccan-European trade relations and will attend the 31st annual meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which will be held in Marrakech.

The visit to Marrakech will recall the importance of EU-Morocco relations and the EU’s commitment to strong relations with its neighbours, particularly given the impact of the war in Ukraine on food security world, says the Commission, noting that the EU has recently announced a package of EUR 225 million to help its partners in the Southern Neighborhood cope with the consequences of rising food and commodity prices in the region .

During this trip, Dombrovskis will discuss with his Moroccan interlocutors on the strengthening of commercial ties and will participate in a dialogue with the General Confederation of Enterprises in Morocco (CGEM) and Business Europe.

The Vice-President, who will represent the European Commission at the EBRD Annual Meeting, the first ever in North Africa, is expected to meet EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso, attend the main plenary session and take part at a high-level roundtable on the impact of the war in Ukraine.

He will also deliver a keynote address on the role of sustainable capital finance in emerging economies.

The Vice-President of the EC will also organize a series of bilateral meetings on trade, including on the modernization of the bilateral trade agreement, the business and investment environment, as well as the impact of the war in Ukraine.
