After a number of citizens circulated the news of reviewing the direct social support index, or “Amo Solidarity,” Mustafa Paytas, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of relations with Parliament and civil society, the official spokesman for the government, announced that the government had not reviewed any index whether to benefit from direct social support. Or “Amo Solidarity”, which costs the state treasury 25 billion dirhams.

Paytas explained, in a press conference following the government council meeting in Rabat, that the government was committed to improving the social situation of Moroccans. In this regard, he said, “Social coverage today includes about 10.5 million people, who are treated in public hospitals free of charge and treated in private sector clinics, just like those enrolled in the National Social Security Fund,” which costs the state treasury about 10 billion dirhams.

In a related context, Hassan Al-Amrani Al-Alawi, President of the Moroccan Association for Hemophilia Patients, alerted to the major problem that has arisen due to the “social indicator” approved in the system for access to medical services, which now deprives people with chronic hemophilia from receiving treatment and taking medications. The spokesman confirmed, in an interview with the newspaper, that transferring beneficiaries from the “RAMED” system to the National Social Security Fund, and establishing the so-called “social index” made many hemophilia patients deprived of compensation, either due to the inability to pay enrollment fees, or a change in their index. Periodically, he said, “This deprivation means threatening this group with death.”

He mentioned that the association recently organized a symposium on this subject in the presence of officials from the National Social Security Fund and the National Health Insurance Agency, adding, “We have received promises to correct this defect, because this disease is chronic and also very expensive.”
