This is a 35-kilometer mountain trekking trip, and it takes 11 hours to “rescue life and death”. At 18:00 on September 6, the assault team composed of Deyang Fire and Ganzi Fire finally succeeded in transferring the octogenarian old man trapped in Tianchi Village, Detuo Town, Luding down the mountain.
At 18:00 on September 5, 5 hours after the “9.5” Luding earthquake occurred, the Deyang City Fire Rescue Detachment arrived at the station in Detuo Town, Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture to carry out rescue operations. According to feedback from the local people, three people were trapped in Tianchi Village, Deduo Town, and Deyang Fire Protection immediately carried out rescue work.
On the evening of the 5th, Deyang Fire Department used drones and local guides to determine the location of the trapped people, and contacted the trapped people through lights and shouting. The footage fed back by the drone showed that one of the three trapped people was an elderly man with a leg injury.
At 7:00 on September 6, Deyang Fire and Ganzi Fire formed an assault team of 16 people, carrying food, water, cold-proof clothing, stretchers, ropes, medicines and other rescue supplies, and went up the mountain to search and rescue the trapped people. A large area of the mountain collapsed due to the earthquake, and the road into the village was blocked. The assault team could only walk in a column under the leadership of the local guide to cross the mountain and enter the village on foot.
At 10:46, after more than 3 hours of climbing search and rescue, the assault team found the trapped old man. After preliminary inspection and inquiries, the commandos learned that the trapped old man was about 80 years old, blind in his eyes, and injured his back and legs to varying degrees during the post-quake evacuation. Because the old man could not walk, and the road down the mountain was steep and difficult to transfer, the assault team decided to fix the old man on a multi-functional stretcher, and adopted the method of building rope protection. Groups of four took turns to carry the old man down the mountain.
Due to the wide search area in the early stage, before the old man was found, many members of the first batch of rescue forces of the assault team had walked nearly 20 kilometers, losing a lot of physical strength, and the speed of transferring the old man down the mountain was obviously slowed down.
At 13:40, in order to send the old man down the mountain for treatment as soon as possible, the second batch of the assault team set out for reinforcements; at 15:50, the two teams met to “handover” and relayed the old man.
Around 18:00, after 11 hours of hard work, the commandos walked about 35 kilometers, and finally successfully transferred the 80-year-old old man trapped in Tianchi Village, Detuo Town down the mountain.
