Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp saw that the best years of the player Mohamed Salah “have not come yet”, in Klopp’s first comment on Liverpool’s announcement, Friday, of signing a “long-term contract” with The Egyptian king.
Klopp considered that the renewal of the contract was “the best decision for the club and the player alike”, saying: “I am really pleased, very happy. It is our best decision and the best decision for him. I think it belongs to us. This is his club now.”
“This is a special gift for our fans to enjoy the weekend even more. I’m sure there will be some celebrations with this news tonight,” Klopp added.
“Of course, it took some time, but it’s totally fine and the best things are always worth the wait anyway,” Klopp added, referring to Salah’s contract renewal negotiations.
Klopp confirmed that Salah is “one of the best players in the world”. “I have no doubts that Mo (Salah)’s best years are yet to come,” he said, adding that “the first five seasons (of Salah) here were legendary.”
In terms of fitness, the Liverpool manager described his player as an “incredibly perfect machine”. Klopp said Salah “works hard for it and gets his rewards. His ability and skill level increases every season, and his decision has taken it to another level as well.”
Klopp added that Salah “is loved by his teammates. As coaches we know that we are working with a special person. His supporters have been crowned king.” “It’s great news. It makes me smile thinking about it,” Klopp continued. “He will be with us for a longer time and that means we can achieve more together.”
