Pyongyang: The first Kovid case in North Korea has been confirmed. Following this, the ruler Kim Jong Un announced a nationwide lockdown.

However, the Korean Central News Agency reported yesterday that the Omicron variant had been confirmed in a sample of those diagnosed with the disease in the capital, Pyongyang. Following this, Kim immediately joined the Politburo to assess the situation. Kim has announced that he will make all arrangements for emergency pandemic prevention.
A full lockdown has been announced in North Korea following meetings with health experts. More restrictions will be imposed in the coming days. Kim said emergency care would be provided to prevent the spread of the virus and that the current situation would be overcome soon.
It is not clear how many people have now confirmed the Omicron variant. Of the 2.5 crore population, no one has been vaccinated. Korea has rejected promises by the World Health Organization, China and Russia to provide the necessary assistance for vaccination.
