The Budget announced the distribution of 10,000 yuan of electronic consumer coupons, which will be distributed in two phases. In the first phase, 6.3 million eligible citizens can receive the first phase of HK$5,000 consumer coupons from today (7th). Some members of the public tap the card at the Octopus subsidy collection station at the MTR station to receive the consumption coupon.
The first phase of the HKD 5,000 consumption coupons use the last registered payment tool and cannot be transferred. Citizens who use Alipay Hong Kong (AlipayHK), Tap & Go Rewards or WeChat Pay HK (WeChat Pay Hong Kong) accounts to receive the consumption coupons can HK$5,000 is received in one go, valid until October 31, 2022.
For Octopus, there are many steps to collect the consumption coupons. They must be collected in two instalments of HKD 4,000 and HKD 1,000. Citizens must accumulate a total of not less than HKD 4,000 before the specified date before they can receive the second instalment of HKD 1,000 on the 16th of the next month. It can be claimed as early as June 16, and at the latest from November 16. The government added that due to the maximum stored value of an Octopus card of HK$3,000, citizens can tap the card multiple times to collect the vouchers before the collection deadline (December 31, 2022).
