The first Saudi response to the allegations of an American newspaper regarding Saudi Arabia’s study to accept the “yuan currency” instead of the dollar for oil sales to China

Al-Marsad newspaper: A Saudi source commented, this evening, Tuesday, on the allegations of the American newspaper “The Wall Street Journal” that the Kingdom is considering accepting the “yuan”; Instead of the US dollar in oil sales to China.

The newspaper, “The Independent Arabia”, quoted the source, saying: The news is “unfounded, and the issue has not been raised or discussed.” He is skeptical regarding the American newspaper’s sources and information.

The newspaper had claimed that “Saudi Arabia is in active talks with Beijing to price some of its oil sales to China in yuan.” Adding: “This move would reduce the dominance of the dollar on the global oil market and represent another shift by the largest exporter of crude to Asia in the world.”
