The site specializing in air transport news, Air Journal, revealed citing data from the travel search engine, Liligo, that the city of Marrakech ranks first in the ranking of the most popular destinations for French tourists in 2022, for the second year.
The site specifies that “with a return ticket at 207 euros on average, the red city saw a price drop of 35% in 2022 compared to 2019, and an increase of 9% compared to last year. .
The source pointed out that the city of Marrakech is followed in order by Lisbon and Porto (Portugal), explaining that Barcelona is also a destination loved by the French, since it ranks fifth ahead of Istanbul (fourth in the ranking).
The French overseas departments follow, notably Saint-Denis in Reunion (6th) and Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe (7th), then the French city of Nice (8th), Canadian Montreal (9th), and Fort -de-France on Martinique (tenth).
On the other hand, the site writes that New York, which ranked tenth last year, is not present this year in the ranking.
Regarding ticket sales, the source revealed that the Antilles, the United States, the Maghreb countries and Mexico are the best-selling destinations in 2022, for departures from France.
According to an opinion poll carried out by OpinionWay for Liligo, 70% of French people questioned had traveled in 2022, compared to 64% in 2021. More than 10% of people who did not travel attributed their decision to the anxiety of catching Covid-19, while 30% of them justified their decision by economic conditions, in particular inflation.
