The future plans of Kevin De Bruyne: A look into the footballer’s career and beyond

At 32, Kevin De Bruyne is closer to the end of his career than the beginning. And he is well aware of this. This is why he intends to still enjoy his last years as a footballer.

On TNT Sports, the player answered questions from Rio Ferdinand and about his last 18 months of contract at Manchester City. “I am completely focused on my football,” he began. “I haven’t really thought about what happens afterwards. Obviously, you think about situations, you talk to your wife, your family. But I have 18 months left on my contract, I’m happy.”

The player still has many objectives to achieve, such as winning a second Champions League in a row for example. To do this, he wants to stay focused on the field. “As long as I feel good and happy, there’s really nothing to think about. But we’ll see what happens.”

Contrary to his vision of the game, he does not yet know what his future will look like after his career. If he is used to seeing everything before everyone else in the meadows, he wants to take his time. Even if he has already taken the lead since he has already completed his coaching diplomas in Belgium.

One thing is certain: he is well served to learn with a coach like Pep Guardiola. “I don’t know if I’ll be a good coach,” he said. “My wife thinks so. I’m not too sure. I think she might have a better view of what I’m good at than I do,” he explains with a laugh. “I qualified as a coach with Belgium. I have to say that when I coached the under-15s at City for 10 sessions, I really enjoyed it. But being a coach of a first team, in a team like City is a different prospect. I don’t know yet if it’s a good idea for me, but we’ll see in the future. Maybe.”

Before that, the Red Devil wants to leave a mark. “I think I play football the same way I live my life: simple, direct. I’m not a dribbler or anything like that, I think people can appreciate my football from a different point of view others.”

Once his career is over, he will be able to leave with peace of mind. “I think I brought a little joy to some people in the world. Maybe I can be an example in that, but I can’t really change people’s opinions and that’s okay with me too.”
