ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, CHOREOGRAPHER AND DANCER. NATIONAL DANCE AWARD 2020.

He was born in Badalona in 1985 and began his flamenco training at the age of 7. Graduated in Spanish Dance and Flamenco from the Institute of Theater and Dance in 2003, he expanded his artistic training with the most relevant performers and creators of the time. He is part of companies such as El Guito, Nuevo Ballet Español or Antonio Canales, among others.

Among his performances during those years we can highlight his pas de deux with Lola Greco and her Soleá in the José Greco show. In the company of Antonio Canales, in the show The Blood of Oedipus along with Adela Campallo and Lola Greco. With Olga Pericet, she participated as a guest artist dancing her Soleá.

In 2006 he joined the National Ballet of Spain, spending a year as a dance group, three as Principal Dancer and one as a guest artist, interpreting the most emblematic choreographies of the BNE repertoire, as Dawn of the Funny (Master Barn), blows of life (Jose Antonio and Rafael Campallo), rhythms (Alberto Lorca) Green Stone Heart (José Antonio)…, standing out in each of them for his work, technique, style and his own art, as the critics show.

During 2010 and 2011 he lives immersed in his world of dance in many different ways. He teaches courses and masterclasses in different countries: India, Holland, France, Italy, etc. He works as a guest artist on the tour of the Rojas and Rodríguez company through Asia.

His restlessness and his desire to show his most personal side and make his way within the arts in a broader way led him to leave the National Ballet of Spain and he embarked on a new adventure creating his own company and producing, black and white crib in 2012 being the beginning of an extensive career where he would later premiere 7 balconies in 2013, Impetu’s in 2015, the latter taking it to the most important theaters in the world and with which it continues to obtain great success from the public and critics, Equilibrium in 2017, until its last creation Amateur released in April 2018.

In addition to the creations for his own company, he takes part in the tribute to Carmen Amaya, Carmen!, the Captain, at the National Theater of Catalonia, together with Rocío Molina, Mayte Martín and Ramón Oller, closing the show with his speech. Participates in various Galas of Flamenco Stars as principal dancer with Antonio Canales, Karime Amaya, and Carlos Rodríguez, in the Flamenco Gala of the Flamenco Festival where he receives the “International Critical and Audience Recognition” as the revelation artist of that year . He directs, choreographs and intervenes as a dancer, in the gala, Cuerpo Mente y Alma, together with Karime Amaya and Paloma Fantova, which premieres at the Suma Flamenca 2014. He choreographs and intervenes as a dancer, in the gala, Flamenco 5 Estrellas, together with Lola Greco, Sergio Bernal, Karime Amaya and Ana Arroyo, premiered on June 10 at the Suma Flamenca 2015. In July of that same year, he performed The Soul of Lorca, in the show created and directed by the Catalan artist Pep Tosar, Federico García, premiered at the Grec Festival, in Barcelona. In 2017 he participated in the Flamenco Gala produced by the Flamenco Festival together with Juana Amaya, Olga Pericet, Patricia Guerrero, Rocio Márquez. For the Corral de Moreria creates Jesus and his guests, Reunion with Flamenco y Camino.

He has participated with his company in the most important Festivals and most emblematic Theaters in the world. Visiting France, England, Italy, Holland, Lithuania, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, USA, Japan, Australia…

As the culmination of his prolific 2017, in the third week of December, he makes his debut with his company in Australia.

The year 2018 begins with a new production CAMINO created for the Corral de la Morería and with great success.

During the month of February he has participated in the Sampled Gala, with stars from different disciplines held at Sadler’s Wells in London and The Lowry in Manchester.

During the months of February and March and within the Flamenco Festival he participates with IMPETU’S in London, Manchester, Boston, NY and Portland, receiving the best reviews from the international press and great recognition from the public, appearing on the cover and in different articles three times in a single week in The New York Times, and named for said newspaper as “A FENOMENO OF THE FLAMENCO WORLD”.

During this same period, he collaborated with Chano Domínguez at the Jazz at Lincoln Center, sharing the stage with great artists such as Dick Hyman, Sullivan Fortner, Joey Alexander, Eddie Tarres Jr and Jared Grines. During his stay in NY he also participated in the residency organized by the Flamenco Festival together with Joaquín de Luz, David Neumman, Ivan Bave, Antonio Lizana and Lucia Campillo with a single performance at the New York City Center venue.

During the month of May it was exhibited at the CCE MIAMI CORRIENTES: MOVEMENT WITH PURPOSE of the artists Lulo River, Luís Olazábal, Omany Torres and Ricardo Cornejo obtaining
numerous nominations and awards at dance video festivals around the world with the video IMPETUS: FLAMENCO’S DRIVING FORCE.

On April 6 he premiered AMATEUR, his last production at the Juan Bravo Theater in Segovia with great success, then taking it to the Real Coliseo Carlos III in El Escorial. Subsequently, he has toured the USA and Argentina with workshops and master classes with conferences and an educational show “Essay of a Life”, created and performed by Jesús Carmona for alternative spaces where he explores his most intimate feelings for a small audience and which has become represented in Portland, Boston and Miami.

Also during the month of June and July he has participated with Impetu’s at the Festival Nuits Flamencas de Chateauvallon (Milano Flamenco Festival), the Mont de Marsan Flamenco Festival, it is usually required to participate in the most important and representative Flamenco galas and festivals at a national and international level such as the Bienal de Sevilla, Festival de Jerez, Suma Flamenca in Madrid, El Grec in Barcelona, ​​Mont de Marsan, Albuquerque, Queretaro Flamenco Festival… As well as in the most famous flamenco tablaos, “El Corral de la Morería” in Madrid and “El Cordobés” in Barcelona.

In September 2018 he performed with Impetu’sat the Dubai Opera at Suzhou Arts Center, and in October with Amateur at the Irvine Barclay Theater in Los Angeles. Due to the didactic and creative importance of workshops, courses and classes, Jesús Carmona will remain active in this educational project “Essay of a Life” throughout 2018 and 2019.

In 2019 he participated in the Flamenco Festival in Rome in January and a tour of: Australia, Brazil, England, Portugal, Festival de Jerez, Madrid (Madrid Community Theater Network) and Alicante. Season was held with the new show AMATEUR in Madrid and London.

During the year 2019 he carried out 4 artistic residences in New York, Miami, London and Madrid for the creation of his latest show The jumpwhich will premiere at the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla in September 2020.
