The Geneva Biennale Sculpture Garden to discover in the parks

The 3rd edition of the Geneva Sculpture Garden Biennial will take place from June 9 to the end of September. A total of 26 works of contemporary art can be discovered in the open air in the Eaux-Vives and La Grange parks as well as on the Eaux-Vives beach.

The design of this summer exhibition was entrusted to Devrim Bayar, exhibition curator at the WIELS contemporary art center in Brussels. The works she has collected for the Biennale come from international artists, including Ana Alenso, Liz Deschenes, Alia Farid and Elif Erkan. More than half of the works were produced especially for the Geneva exhibition.

The red thread of this 3rd edition is the relationship to others and to oneself in an unstable and technologically influenced environment. The artists have proposed works that go beyond the field of sculpture. It is thus a question of design, architecture, video, photography and writing.

This contemporary art event accessible to all was initiated by artgenève and produced in collaboration with MAMCO and the City of Geneva. The previous edition was talked about because of a gigantic statue by Adel Abdessemed representing Zinedine Zidane’s famous headbutt to Marco Materazzi during the 2006 Football World Cup. A work denounced by some as an apology for violence and praised by others.
