It is an event which puts an end to a thirty-year treasure hunt: the Golden Owl, a sculpture worth 150,000 euros, was found on Thursday October 3. The identity of the lucky winner is not yet known.

From the forests of Moselle, to Mont Saint-Michel, via the cliffs of Dordogne: the Chouette d’or has taken thousands of treasure hunting enthusiasts across France. For 31 years, they had been digging, searching with metal detectors to find the 6 kg bird made of gold, silver, diamonds and rubies. The mystery is finally solved.

We do not yet know where she was, but she was found this Thursday, October 3 in the morning, 11,495 days after being buried. To find it, you had to solve 11 puzzles gathered in a book. Charades and difficult-to-decipher codes were developed by an editor and a painter.

In 2018, Rocamadour, in the Lot, was invaded by “owlers”, convinced that it was there. In 2013, others took the train to Paris to dig near Poitiers. The lucky stranger behind this find wins the precious bird, estimated at 150,000 euros.
