“We invite all people to support and enjoy running as a family,” emphasizes Héctor Correa, president of the Chillán Runners Club, which with the support of the Municipality of Chillán, the Mall Vivo and the MDS Casino, organized for this Sunday the unprecedented Corrida Chillán Runners.
The running festival that will take over the streets of Villa Emanuel and the Nahueltoro variant, will bring together 500 athletes from the sub-14, youth and 19 to 29 year-old series, for men and women, in the 2.5 (family), 6 and 12 km.
“The summons is at 8 a.m. for athletes, but the departure is at 9 a.m. First, the athletes from the 6 and 12 km categories will start together, and at 9:05 a.m., the family 2.5 km category will go out together,” says Correa.
Participants in the 2.5 family category will leave from Mall Vivo, take Colonia Bernardo O’Higgins Street and tour Villa Emanuel, to return to the starting point.
The athletes of the 6 km series will start from the Mall Vivo and head towards the MDS Casino, taking the Nahueltoro Bypass, to go and return, while the 12k competitors will cover a similar route, but duplicated by the turns they will take. in the Marina del Sol Casino sector.
“We want to thank all the sponsors because when the project was presented to them they said yes immediately like Mall Vivo and Casino MDS. And especially, thanks to the Municipality of Chillán, especially, to Mayor Camilo Benavente, who is also an athlete and loves running, because he immediately said yes and supported us,” stressed the helmsman of the Chillán Runners Club, Héctor Correa.
The sports advisor of the municipality of Chillán, Hernán Blasco, representing Mayor Camilo Benavente, who in the last few hours suffered the unfortunate loss of his father, Jaime Benavente, highlighted that “our mayor’s management aims to always support these initiatives that aim for the community to take over public spaces to play sports. This call is a good sign since people are eager to do sports and physical activity.”
