The heating bill bomb… Minister of Industry Lee visiting social welfare facilities – ::: Global Green Growth Media

Listen to difficulties and explain the expansion of heating cost support for the underprivileged

[이투뉴스] As consumers’ dissatisfaction with heating cost bombs such as city gas bills increased, the government and the ruling party prepared various measures, and Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Lee Chang-yang started to inspect the heating conditions of social welfare facilities. He intends to visit the site, listen to heating-related difficulties, and explain plans to expand heating cost support for the energy-vulnerable class in the winter.

On the 29th, Industry Minister Lee Chang-yang visited the Seoul Jeongneung Nursing Home, a social welfare facility where city gas discounts are applied. The fact-finding inspection was attended by Yoo Beop-min, head of the Resources Industry Policy Bureau, Park Deok-yeol, head of the gas industry division, Choi Yeon-hye, president of Korea Gas Corporation, Yoon Jong-yeon, full-time vice president of the Korea City Gas Association, and Jeong Chang-shi, CEO of Yesco.

The Jeongneung Nursing Home requested the government’s continued interest and support so that it could heat without worrying about costs in the winter, as the nursing home is a social welfare facility for the elderly, although the burden is somewhat alleviated with the discount on city gas rates.

Minister Lee Chang-yang said, “As the Minister of Energy, I feel sorry for the general public, including the energy-vulnerable class, for suffering from high heating costs this winter due to the surge in natural gas prices due to the war in Ukraine.” It explained plans to expand support for the protection of vulnerable groups.

“The government froze gas rates for the first quarter of this year in consideration of the fact that demand for heating is concentrated in winter,” he said. I will protect you,” he said.
