The hidden lagoon on the way to Tronador, a jewel to discover near Bariloche

Juventus Lagoon.

A trail just 500 meters from the park ranger section at the access to the road to the Tronador hill leads to one of the least visited lagoons in the region. With Juventussurrounded by reeds, is nestled in middle of hills.

The silence is absolute and is only interrupted by the countless birds that occupy that space.

A sign at the beginning of the route informs that the route son 2.5 kilometers and two hours of walking are indicated, although walkers usually take much less.

The first stretch has a steep climb. But it’s the only one. The path, until reaching the lagoon, is flat and covered by a lush forest that does not allow the passage of the sun.

The walk is of slight difficulty and is ideal for a family since it does not require physical dexterity. However, those who want to visit it must make the Trekking record of the Nahuel Huapi National Park in case of any emergency.

“On that path, bird watching is valued. They are environments that are very prone to having a diversity of bird life”, summarized Enrico Lucesoli, technical advisor of the Nahuel Huapi park.

The lagoon is covered by reeds that prevent going down to the water. You can’t completely surround it either. “These are fragile environments and the fact that the lagoon is covered with vegetation that works as a barrier to descend works as a kind of protection for fauna. It is a place to be calm”, considered Lucesoli.

The Ecorecords page reports the sighting of Tobian maca in the area, gallareta chica, biguá, carpintero grande, chimango, chucao, rayadito, peutrén and Patagonian swallow, among others.

You can also access the Juventus Lagoon by the national route 40, but that road is not in good passable conditions.

How to get
