The Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firas Abyad, assured that the hospital occupancy rate for those infected with Corona this year is equivalent to one third of what it was last year or less, and that the difference this year is the vaccine, calling on everyone to receive the vaccine for the sake of his safety and the safety of society.

Minister Abyad’s words came during his inspection of the “Pfizer Marathon” campaign on its second day in Sidon Governmental Hospital, which is organized by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Ministry of Education in order to vaccinate students, teachers, their families and all workers in the educational sector. The approved vaccination center inside the hospital was briefed on the progress of the process, noting the approved system and the citizens’ willingness to receive the vaccine.

The minister was accompanied on his tour by his advisor, Dr. Muhammad Haider, the ministry’s vaccine official, Dr. Fatima Makki, and the official of the follow-up committee with government hospitals in the ministry, Hisham Fawaz.

After the tour, Minister Abyad stated the following:

As an epidemiological situation, it is true that we see that there is a significant increase in the number of infections, but at the same time we look to the hospitalization situation and so far we see that the situation of hospitalization rates in Lebanon is stable and this is a good thing and this is what we see not only in Lebanon but in other countries in the world, because with the demand for Vaccine The vaccine protects against severe infection and prevents admission to hospitals, and this is essential.
He continued: That is why the campaign that we are carrying out in cooperation with the Ministry of Education is on the one hand to protect our schools, students and teachers, even if, God forbid, an infection occurs that is not a strong infection, and the other topic is to protect our society and the campaign for those who wish to increase the rate of immunization in society.

He continued: I am very satisfied with the conduct of the vaccination campaign. Yesterday, we had more than thirty thousand vaccines that were administered. Today, not all centers were able to complete today, Sunday, because there is great pressure on health workers, but we are continuing. I checked the Siblin Center in the morning and we are now in Sidon Hospital. The government sees that the turnout is good, and here the organization is excellent. After my visits to several vaccination centers, we see that the centers that have an excellent organization, this makes a large number of people come to receive the vaccine, and this is a good thing and this is what concerns us.
In response to a question, he said: We are interested in everyone being vaccinated, and the good thing about this is that the vaccinators are older people or those who have chronic diseases. We were able to reach a large number of them, but we are interested in reaching everyone, especially in remote areas, because in some areas there is less demand than others, such as areas Akkar and Baalbek-Hermel, and here we are interested in reaching everyone in order to protect them, especially that the cost of hospitalization at these times is high.

In response to a question, he said: We have a campaign in cooperation with civil societies and in cooperation with many associations, and we had about twenty mobile clinics that went to schools and did this issue, but until we reached everyone, we followed the issue in two ways. Some in schools we go to them, others are asked to gather and come to Vaccine centers.

In response to a question, he answered: If we want to compare the situation this year with the situation last year, we see that the hospital occupancy rate this year is approximately one-third of what it was last year or less. The truth of the difference between this year and last year is the vaccine, because last year when the Alpha-fatal mutation came Us, because there was no vaccine, and there was no immunization or immunization of the community, so we see that the ministry is strict in matters in terms of procedures and some people complain about strict procedures, but in the end the main goal is to protect everyone and protect society and the other topic is the vaccine, so this campaign and this tour were so we encourage everyone To receive the vaccine, which is free and for everyone and is not obligatory, but the one who knows his interest and the interest of society must take the vaccine.

In response to a question, he said: Vaccination is not obligatory, but what is noticeable in this demonstration is a lot of what was said that is unscientific, and it is unfortunate that we are in a country where we see ourselves as having a high percentage of educated people where there was talk that had nothing to do with science. On the other hand, for people who did not They take the vaccine and suffer from diseases and smokers, which drew attention that they did not adhere to the masks, and this alone sends a message to everyone about the seriousness of the people gathered on the issue of public safety and public health.

Samadi
For his part, Dr. Samadi said: The government hospital is participating for the second day in the Pfizer marathon, in coordination between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, to vaccinate teachers, students, their families, and all workers in the educational sector. Yesterday, we vaccinated 800 people. Today, the turnout is acceptable as a hospital condition. Most of those who enter the hospital are unvaccinated, so we stress that The importance of receiving the vaccine in order to immunize the community.

At the end of the tour, Minister Abyad, accompanied by Al-Samadi, visited the emergency department in the hospital, and then held an extensive meeting with the administrative body and briefed Al-Samadi on the progress of work and the requirements of the hospital and its staff.
