According to information from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Huawei has very strong ambitions for its future P70s, notably with significant advances in photography.

Huawei is gradually getting back on track. After several years of scarcity, the Chinese manufacturer managed to return to commercial success this year thanks to the marketing of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro. However, this would only be the beginning of a new era for Huawei, according to Ming-Chi Kuo information.
The analyst from TF International, who is particularly well informed about Apple’s projects, provided some information on Huawei’s next range of premium smartphones. In a post published on Mediumhe provides some information about the future Huawei P70 range and Huawei’s ambitions:
The P70 range should allow for great growth in 2024 thanks to camera improvements and the arrival of a new Kirin chip from Huawei. If current smartphone demand continues in the first half of 2024, the P70 line could see year-over-year growth of around 230%, with 13 to 15 million units sold. Even if demand slows down in the first half, sales of P70 are still expected with growth of 150%, of the order of 10 to 12 million units.
To explain this expected growth for the P70 range, we can cite a return to general market growth, expected for next year, but not only that. Remember that the Huawei Mate 60 experienced renewed success this year in China, since they were the first smartphones in years to benefit from 5G connectivity… unlike the Huawei P60 launched at the start of the year.
Strong photo ambitions for these three smartphones
Furthermore, Ming-Chi Kuo reports that Huawei has taken particular care of the photo modules of its various P70s with three models expected: the Huawei P70, the Huawei P70 Pro and the Huawei P70 Art. The three devices would also be equipped with a telephoto lens, with a lens with 5 plastic lenses (5P) for the P70, associated with a 1/3.6 inch sensor, and lenses with 6 plastic lenses (6P) for the two other models with a sensor associated with 1/2.5 inch format.
As for the P70 Art’s ultra-wide-angle camera, Huawei has pulled out all the stops by developing a 1G6P lens, that is to say with 6 plastic lenses and a glass lens. It must be said that glass lenses are extremely rare in smartphones and that the price of this lens should be 4 to 5 times higher than that of a classic lens with 7 plastic lenses (7P). To do this, Huawei would go through two suppliers: Largan and Sunny Optical.
In addition to Huawei’s ambitions, Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that this generation of smartphones should lift the entire market: “Huawei’s return to the high-end smartphone market, with higher photo specifications and substantial growth, will significantly increase the optics update cycle in the high-end phone market ».
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the P70, P70 Pro and P70 Art should be launched in the first half of 2024.
