Independent Belgian shoe stores explained to The time that Birkenstock was no longer going to supply them. Dozens of businesses are affected and might therefore experience a drop in their turnover. The reason ? The newly listed sandals company is reviewing its commercial strategy.
The stores targeted by the brand are those which place few orders or “which do not meet minimum standards in terms of presentation of the brand”. Birkenstock was integrated into the LVMH group in 2021 and the latter wants to emphasize the fashion aspect of the brand with higher profits as a result.
