According to information from British secret services, a Ukrainian rocket attack on an important bridge to the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia, has recently made Russian supplies more difficult. “The temporary closure of the route has meant that vital Russian logistical shipments have taken at least 50 percent longer to reach the front lines via other routes,” Britain’s Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

The Russian occupation authorities would probably have built a replacement pontoon bridge within 24 hours of the attack in the early morning of June 22nd. “The speed with which an alternative crossing was built shows how important this route is to Russia’s military efforts in occupied Ukraine,” it said in London. Crossings are probably currently reserved for the military.

The Chonhar Bridge connects Crimea and the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson, which is partially occupied by Russia. According to British information, this is one of the two main supply routes and the most direct connection to the front in the Zaporizhia region, where Ukrainian troops are currently undertaking a major offensive.

The British Ministry of Defense has published daily information on the course of the war since the start of the Russian war of aggression 16 months ago. Moscow accuses London of disinformation.
