The Importance of Well-Being in Colombian Companies: Insights from Aon’s Global Survey

85% of Human Resources executives and managers in Colombia stated that well-being is important for their company, while in Latin America 80% consider it so.

81% considered that it is becoming an increasingly important issue (68% at the regional level); and, 54% thought that their strategy on that front could be fully integrated into the general business and talent strategy (48% was the regional average).

The data comes from the 2022-2023 Global Wellbeing Survey by Aon plc, a global professional services firm. It is highlighted that 97% of the participating organizations in the country have well-being initiatives within their human capital structure, being the highest percentage in Latin America (89%) and globally (87%).

“From a global perspective, this survey highlights that employee well-being remains very important to organizations, despite the current volatile conditions,” said Max Saraví, head of Health & Talent Solutions for Latin America at Aon.

In fact, among the evidence, 83% of companies around the world today have a well-being strategy, which represents an increase of more than 25% since 2020.

The survey identifies the three main priorities that Colombian companies have. Leads employee well-being (58%). Then they mention attracting and retaining talent and product or service innovation.

Aon draws attention to the fact that these responses are far from those given by companies in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, when they gave maximum importance to meeting financial objectives and satisfying the needs of shareholders.

Secondly, there is meeting the needs of customers and, finally, they mentioned satisfying and adapting to the changing conditions of customers due to the health crisis.

On the other hand, the three main problems related to employee well-being were summarized in mental and emotional health (71% of responses), exhaustion or languor (54%) and support for virtual or hybrid work (41%). The survey also shows the dimensions of well-being that companies address.

“Human talent management in Colombia does not stop evolving. Well-being strategies are here to stay because, in addition to better articulating them, they stimulate personal and professional development and favor the integration of all collaborators in a process from which the company and the people will always emerge stronger. Through well-being, both organizations and people share the responsibility of growing and advancing,” commented María del Pilar Manzanera, head of Wellbeing for Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at Aon.
