So, the device managed to take a picture of the sun-like star HD 84406 and a selfie of the main mirror. The images were transmitted to Earth from a distance of 1.5 million km.

The Ariane 5 launch vehicle, carrying the James Webb Orbital Telescope, was launched on December 25 last year from the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana.
