In a quick deliberation, The popular jury declared Fernando Cronenbold guilty at dawn this Saturday for the femicide of Patricia Rendón in Catriel. It is the second jury trial that has been carried out for a crime of this type that occurred in the oil town, the third in Cipolletti and the twelfth in the province. The only penalty provided is life imprisonment.
From now on, the parties have five business days to offer evidence and carry out the second phase of the trial, which is the caesura or penalty. The twelve people appointed to try the accused arrived on Friday exhausted and convinced of the evidence against Cronenbold.
They deliberated relatively quickly after receiving the instructions and declared him guilty of Patricia’s femicide. In the previous case of Catriel, that of Agustina Atencio, Ezequiel Rebolledo was also found guilty by a popular court. Only the first jury trial that took place in Bariloche in February 2020 ended with a not guilty verdict. The rest of the eleven trials concluded with prison sentences for the accused.

The prosecution and the complaint managed to persuade the popular jury with all scientific and expert evidence that implicates the accused Fernando Luis Cronenbold Suarez for the femicide of Patricia Rendón, occurred on June 28, 2022 in Catriel. Defender Ruben Antiguala cast doubt on the entire investigation. He criticized the police and the experts who testified during the week. The incident that is the subject of the accusation occurred on June 28, 2022 in Catriel. That day, the accused person, currently detained, allegedly beat Patricia Rendón to death, who had been his partner. According to the accusation, the attack took place at the defendant’s home, although he later loaded the body into the trunk of his Renault Fluence and took them to a deserted area with difficult access, about 70 kilometers from Catriel.
