The largest universal bank in the CEE region accelerates expansion in the Metaverse

WARSAW, Poland, April 12 /PRNewswire/ – PKO Bank Polski, the largest universal bank in Central and Eastern Europe, is accelerating its expansion into virtual worlds. Already on May 30th she will host one of the world’s first virtual job fairs in the Metaverse in her virtual PKO Rotunda on the Decentraland platform.

The bank has announced that it is preparing to create attractive spaces on gaming platforms such as Fortnite and Roblox, and that it intends to expand its activities on the Metaverse-class platforms Decentraland and The Sandbox. She also plans to build more VR models of her stores.

“Our experience in the Metaverse world so far has been very positive. The virtual PKO rotunda embedded in the Decentraland platform still acts as a digital laboratory, but we’re reaching the point where it’s becoming too small for us. We’ve decided to increase our presence in the Metaverse and accelerate the build-up of know-how,” said Katarzyna Dziwulska, Managing Director of Strategy and Digital Transformation Department of PKO Bank Polski, as quoted in the release.

According to PKO Bank Polski, it is looking for companies with the appropriate technological experience for cooperation in the creation and maintenance of virtual spaces and gameplay design on the Metaverse-class gaming platforms.

“We have decided, as a next step, to work more closely with external companies who will support us in our design work. This model will allow us to develop simultaneously on different gaming platforms such as Fortnite or Roblox, as well as on metaverse platforms such as The Sandbox, where we want to create attractive and engaging virtual spaces for users. PKO Bank Polski also announced that it will organize a virtual job fair at the Metaverse on May 30, the first event of its kind in Poland and one of the first in the world. The fair is aimed at both young professionals and experienced professionals, especially from the broad IT sector.

The participants of the event can, among other things, find out about the working methods of the bank and apply for a selected position. The most active users will have the opportunity to arrange an individual interview with the bank’s HR managers.

Katarzyna Motelska, Director of Employee Experience Formation at PKO Bank Polski, quoted in the press release, said the bank is constantly looking for new forms of contact with applicants. “This time we use the possibilities of the Metaverse world. Especially for this occasion, our virtual PKO rotunda on the Decentraland platform will be transformed into an attractive event space where we will host a virtual job fair #PKOBankTalentow”, she stressed.

PKO Bank Polski is the market leader in mobile banking in Poland. It serves almost 12 million customers and its mobile application IKO has already been activated 7.4 million times. The bank took first place in the latest Finnoscore ranking, which assesses the digital maturity of 230 banks from Europe and North America. It has been present on the Decentraland platform since 2022, where it was the first bank in Poland to open its outpost.
