The Russian national team will play a guest friendly game with the Qatar team in September, said RFU Secretary General Maxim Mitrofanov, who is quoted by “RIA Novosti”.
“In September we will play with Qatar. We are looking for a second rival, ”Mitrofanov told reporters.
In May, the RFU decided not to hold the June training camp of the national team. According to Mitrofanov, the national team found two sparring partners, but they were ready to play only on June 20, and this was inconvenient for the RPL clubs.
The RFU decided not to collect the Russian national team in the summer after Cameroon refused the match
The Russian national team has been suspended from competitions under the auspices of FIFA and UEFA since February 2022. Since then, the team of Valery Karpin has played five friendly matches – with the teams of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Iraq.
